After the Grey Fangs attack the Ice Prairies Janner and his family are forced to sail to the only place left that is not controled by the Fangs, The Green Hollows. But Kalmar, Janner brother has been turned into a Grey Fang and the people in the Hollows hate Fangs. the trip to the Green Hollows is the last voyage Podo Helmer can take on the see because he used to hunt Sea Dragons. In the Green Hollows the Jewels of Anniera have to go to school but not everyone is happy that there is a Grey Fang at school. That brings the three Wingfeather Children to rely on one and other.
